The implementation of the Argos program allows drug prevention to reach more than 600 Secondary Education students from the Totana educational centers (22/08/2018)

The implementation of the Argos program in the Region of Murcia has allowed drug prevention to reach more than 600 Secondary Education students in schools in the municipality of Totana, according to sources from the Department of Social Welfare.

This last course was launched, as a novelty, this universal prevention program, prepared by the Ministry of Health that is developed in coordination with the Health Centers of Totana, with the collaboration of the Secondary centers and technicians of the Municipal Program of Prevention of Drug Addiction, in which the students of 1st and 2nd of ESO have participated.

This is an educational program that deals with the problems related to the consumption of alcoholic beverages and other drugs, basically aimed at the adolescent population.

By virtue of this project, this course has expanded drug prevention workshops to 4th of ESO, where the consumption of alcohol and cannabis among young Totaneros has been addressed.

As every year, these workshops have been taught in the schools themselves by the technicians of this Department.

With ESO students, the topics related to the consumption of alcohol and cannabis have been addressed, as these are the drugs most consumed among adolescents and the consequences of smoking in the primary workshops have been addressed.

These workshops, which will be resumed this coming 2018/19, aim to provide objective information and adequate training on the consequences of the use and abuse of drugs and the acquisition of sufficient skills, competencies and skills to effectively address the relationship with them.

Awareness campaigns against drugs have also been carried out, including the one promoted on the occasion of the World Day Against Tobacco.

On the other hand, from the Department of Social Welfare is reported that the Ministry of Health offers an online course aimed at parents for the "Prevention of alcohol consumption in their children."

Registration is free and can be done at www.e-drogas.es/cursoargosfamilias

As a novelty, this telematic initiative will be complemented with face-to-face training for parents, which will be given at the end of this year.
