The Local Government Board has recently approved the collaboration agreement with the Autonomous Community, through the Ministry of the Presidency and Development, for the provision of service and extinction of forest fires planned in the Infomur Plan during 2018.
The Ministry has sent the draft agreement to Totana City Council for this purpose.
The dates of the Emergency Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires in the Region of Murcia (Infomur) for 2018 are the following: from April 1 to May 31 in its period of medium danger, which also includes the month of October;
from June 1 to September 30, maximum risk period;
and from November 1 to March 31, time of low danger.
The regional government will mobilize 516 people daily for the surveillance, extinction and coordination of the entire operation in its time of high danger.
To the task of control and extinction of forest fires are dedicated 329 people a day, with 145 firefighters of the Consortium of Fire and Rescue Extinction (CEIS), 133 members belonging to 19 forestry brigades, four brigades of rapid intervention and six brigades of suddenly help.
Three helicopters, located in the mountains of La Pila (Abarán), Zarcilla de Ramos (Lorca) and Alcantarilla, with capacity to discharge up to 1,200 liters, and a helicopter of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment in La Alberquilla (Caravaca de la Cruz), to download up to 4,500 liters, are also part of the operation.
They also participate daily in the surveillance to detect as soon as possible the fires a group of 112 people, 70 of them of the mobile surveillance, in charge of volunteers of Civil Protection;
another 40 distributed among the 20 fixed surveillance posts;
and an airplane that retransmits live aerial images.
Another 75 people make up the management, support and coordination staff.
The allocation of means and resources for extinction is adjusted throughout the year taking into account the evolution of risk and vulnerability, according to community sources.
In the middle-risk season (April, May and October) the 19 forestry brigades, the Consortium fire brigades, the four rapid intervention brigades, two helicopters and three heli-transported brigades will be on alert.
20 fixed positions remain active, which are reduced to 10 in October, and the personnel dedicated to management, support and coordination remains operational.
The regional government will allocate to the Infomur Plan a total budget of 14,334,984 euros, contributed by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment and the Ministry of Presidency and Development.
