Totana City Council held a reception today, in the municipal plenary hall, in which an institutional recognition was made to the Murcian Hospitality of Our Lady of Lourdes and its local delegation on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, and coinciding with the celebration of the Hospital Jubilee Year (1969-2018) that is being celebrated in the Diocese of Cartagena.
The image of the Pilgrim Virgin of Lourdes arrived last Sunday in Totana, where she has remained in the parish of Santiago, and throughout this past week a program of religious, cultural and social commemorative events has been held in her honor.
The mayor, Andrés García, accompanied by numerous members of the municipal Corporation, as well as the diocesan president of Hospitality, Joaquín Martínez, and the head of the delegation in Totana, Antonio Martínez, and the parish priest of Santiago were present at the reception. , Francisco José Fernández.
The mayor delivered two parchments to the heads of the Hospitality Murciana de Lourdes and his local delegation, in recognition of his vocation of service to society during these fifty years of life in the municipalities of Murcia, as well as other ceremonial objects.
In addition, the first mayor signed, on behalf of the Corporation and the citizens of Totana, in the book of honor of this regional association.
The diocesan president of Hospitality thanked the City for their collaboration and generosity with the delegation in Totana;
He also took the opportunity to encourage everyone to participate in the next diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes, number 50, which will take place from June 29 to July 4.
"Now is the time to delude, the pilgrimage is already being forged and it is time to be encouraged to be part of this wonderful experience of service, of faith, of joy, of finding oneself and the Lord through the sick," he explained.
The event was attended in the plenary hall by numerous nurses and volunteers who have been collaborating with this association in Totana.
Later, the Jubilee Mass was celebrated in the parish of Santiago;
and at the end, the procession of torches took place until the parish of the Three Hail Marys.
